SHER KHAN'S STORY

From Pain to Peace: Sher Khan's Journey of Healing and Hope

Sher Khan came to us in 2023 after we were alerted to a six-week-old lion cub being held illegally in a private residence in Lahore. He had been separated from his mother far too early and was found chained to a generator- confused, frightened, and deprived of everything a wild animal needs to survive. When our team intervened, it was clear that Sher Khan’s suffering went beyond his physical condition. The trauma of isolation and confinement at such a young age had already begun to take its toll. He was not meant to grow up in captivity, let alone in an environment defined by noise, restraint, and neglect.Working closely with the Punjab Wildlife Department, we coordinated his lawful rescue and ensured his safe transfer under professional veterinary supervision. Sher Khan was relocated to a protected wildlife park where he could receive proper care, enrichment, and the chance to grow in a setting appropriate for his species.Today, Sher Khan is safe and lives with eight other lions. His rescue disrupted an illegal wildlife trade pipeline and reinforced an essential truth: wild animals belong in the wild, not in private homes.
